Greetings, LibreTexts Community!
Keep reading for the latest updates from the LibreTexts team.
Welcome All CARLI Institutions to the LibreNet Consortium
The LibreTexts team is excited to announce that all members of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) are now LibreNet members. CARLI began in 2005 as a means by which academic and research libraries in Illinois could work together to provide services at scale for the over 700,000 students, faculty and staff across the state. Their mission to empower educators to build and sustain an accessible, diverse, and responsive knowledge environment that promotes excellence and innovation in teaching, learning, and research dovetails perfectly with the LibreTexts mission to provide an accessible, and comprehensive platform that empowers the open education community to develop, curate, adapt, and adopt openly licensed resources and technologies. What began with a only a handful of LibreNet member campuses will now extend to all 124 institutions in Illinois. We look forward to continuing to work closely with our partners in CARLI as they expand their open education initiatives statewide.

Our OctoberFest workshop will be held in-person on Monday, October 27 at the historic St. Cajetan's in the heart of the Metropolitan State University (MSU) campus in downtown Denver, CO. Looking for an introduction to adapting, remixing, or editing content with LibreTexts? Curious about our ADAPT open homework and assessment platform? OctoberFest is a great place to start! Educators from all local institutions, as well those attending the OpenEd Conference--just a 20 minute walk from St. Cajetan's--are welcome to join us.
Registration is free and can be found here: https://commons.libretexts.org/events/fkANaTgKV6
Since our start in 2008, the LibreTexts team has facilitated faculty collaborations across the country, helping instructors work together on building new course content while making powerful connections across institutions and disciplines. Making it easier for our community to work together and build their own communities starts here! Currently we have faculty looking to work on the following projects over the next year:
-- Introduction to Special Education for K-12 Classrooms - especially on describing how to implement best-practices in the classroom (textbook)
-- Organic Chemistry Structure-based Question Writing (using ADAPT Sketcher)
-- Voice and Video thread-based question writing for language courses (ADAPT Discuss-It)
If you are interested in any of these projects, or would you like us to look for collaborators for another OER Project, let us know by filling out our LibreTexts Academy Connections form: https://forms.gle/vAsRyJ1QzAKw1FUr5.
Is your institution part of our LibreNet consortium? If not, consider joining and become part of a growing community of OER practitioners and advocates unlike any other. More information about the numerous benefits of LibreNet membership can be found on our website.
