Professor Paul Thornton from University of Hawaii Maui College has already saved his students nearly $2500 by adopting an open textbook for his Psychology 212: Research Methods course. The text, a collaborative effort by Rajiv Jhangiani, Carrie Cuttler, and Dana C. Leighton, truly "belongs to the commons" according to Jhangiani.

Chancellor Brian King of Sacramento City College gave a shout out to LibreTexts in the college's Fall 2019 convocation. Holding a print version of an Oragnic Chemistry LibreText curated by Sac City faculty Dianne Bennet, Chancellor King received an audible gasp from the audience when he told them the book in his hand cost around $10 and was freely available online. The text, which took around 16 faculty five years to curate, has already saved Organic Chemistry students at Sac City over $200,000.

Greetings, Open Ed advocates! As we gear up for the start of a new school year, here at LibreTexts we are starting up our "getting to know the team" series again. First up, Layne Morsch, Associate Professor of Chemistry at University of Illinois, Springfield.

A group of 30 faculty in myriad disciplines from across the Contra Costa Community College District (4CD) came together June 4 to create, curate and implement open educational resources in their classes. The five-hour OER Hackathon, sponsored by the LibreTexts OER US Department of Education grant, enabled instructors and librarians to work collaboratively as well as independently in a day designed to minimize presentations and maximize results results.
